▶ 본인에 대해 간략하게 소개 부탁드립니다.

Hi, my name is Isabelle and I’m from Munich, Germany. Currently, I’m working in South Korea as an intern in the Technical Marketing Team at FunctionBay. In August 2017 I finished my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. I’m planning to do a Master’s program in Business Informatics respectively Management and Technology.

▷ 안녕하세요. 제 이름은 Isabelle(이사벨)이고, 독일 뮌헨에서 왔습니다. 저는 현재 한국 펑션베이 본사의 테크니컬 마케팅팀에서 인턴으로 일을 하고 있는 중입니다. 작년 8월에 뮌헨에 소재한 Ludwig-Maximilian대학교에서 경영학 전공으로 학사과정을 마쳤으며, 올해 하반기에 경영정보학(Business Informatics)으로 석사과정을 시작하고자 준비하고 있습니다.

▶ 어떤 계기로 펑션베이 현장실습을 오게 되었나요?

Now, after my Bachelor's and before starting my Master’s studies, I want to gain practical experience in the field of my Bachelor's major. This is one of the reasons why I decided to come to FunctionBay as a Technical Marketing intern. Another reason is, that in preparation for my Master’s studies I want to gain insight in the corporate structure of a software and technology company. I’m also very interested in other cultures. I, therefore, like to get to know/ discover the working environment as well as the everyday life of another country more closely than it’s, for example, possible on holiday.

▷ 현재 학사과정은 마친 상태이고, 석사과정을 시작하기 전에 제 전공과 관련된 분야에서 실무경험을 쌓고 싶었기에 펑션베이의 테크니컬 마케팅팀 인턴을 하기로 결심하게 되었습니다. 또 다른 이유는 석사과정을 준비하는 과정으로 소프트웨어 개발 회사의 기업구조에 대한 지식을 넓히고 싶었습니다.

물론 독일이 아닌 다른 나라의 회사생활이나 근무환경이 어떨지도 궁금했지만 다른 나라들의 문화에도 늘 관심이 많았었기 때문에 독일이 아닌 다른 나라에서 살아보는 경험도 직접 해보고 싶었습니다.

▶ 현재 맡은 일은 무엇이며 그 일에 대해 어떠한 마음가짐으로 일하고 있는지요?

In the beginning, I read all the FunctionBay tutorials and the information on the website about FunctionBay and its products, so I got to know the company and the software. Besides, I checked the tutorials and other contents for mistakes and tested if everything is understandable for persons who are not familiar with the software. Other tasks I have are for example creating content for the RecurDyn YouTube channel and preparing PowerPoint Presentations. I’m also assisting in administrative marketing issues. What I really like about the job is that I get to know the work of a software company and that I’m allowed to work very independently. Initially, sometimes the work was a little difficult and sometimes confusing for me, as I wasn’t familiar with computer-aided engineering software or RecurDyn. But I think now, after about 6 weeks, I have got a pretty good insight and will benefit greatly from this experience in my master’s program and my life in general.

▷ 처음에 저에게 주어진 업무는 브로셔와 웹사이트를 참고로 하여 펑션베이라는 회사와 펑션베이에서 개발하는 소프트웨어에 대한 정보를 숙지하는 일과 리커다인 튜토리얼을 전체적으로 읽어보며 따라해보는 것이었 습니다. 그 과정에서 혹 리커다인 컨텐츠에 영문 오류가 있는지. 리커다인에 익숙하지 않은 유저들이 읽었을 때 이해가능한 수준인지 파악하는 것 또한 제 업무였습니다. 리커다인 유튜브 채널의 영상 하단에 입력할 문구를 작성하고, 파워포인트로 각 툴킷 소개자료를 제작하고, 위키피디아에 펑션베이, 리커다인 그리고 MBD for ANSYS에 대해서도 작성하였습니다.

펑션베이에서 인턴을 하면서 가장 좋았던 점 중 하나는 소프트웨어 개발 회사에서 어떤 업무들을 하는지에 대해 알게 되었다는 점입니다. 또한 독립적으로 일할 수 있는 업무환경이 좋았습니다. 제가 리커다인이나 CAE 소프트웨어에 대한 지식이 많이 없었기 때문에 처음에는 저에게 주어진 업무들이 좀 힘들었지만 약 6주가 지 난 지금 CAD 소프트웨어와 소프트웨어 개발 회사에 대해 전반적인 지식을 얻었다고 생각되며, 펑션베이에서 의 2달 동안의 경험은 독일로 돌아가면 곧 시작하게 될 석사과정과 저의 인생에 있어서 큰 도움에 될 것이라고 생각됩니다.

▶ 펑션베이에서 근무하면서 느낀 한국회사와 독일회사와의 차이점이 있다면 어떤 점이 있을까요?

One of the first differences I noticed between the FunctionBay Korea Office and the offices in Germany where I worked so far was the location of the FBK office in a so-called Techno Valley. Since there are many high-tech companies in Pangyo Techno Valley, I had the feeling that this work is very innovative and future-oriented. Another point that differs from the offices I know is, that in the FBK office is a large common room, where you can for example rest on armchairs, play games, or meet colleagues during breaks or working hours. I think this may reduce stress and benefit creativity.

▷ 제가 독일에 있을 때 근무했던 독일 회사와 비교해 보겠습니다. 첫번째 차이점은 소위 테크노밸리라는 곳에 자리잡은 펑션베이 회사 위치입니다. IT 회사들이 많이 들어서 있는 판교테크노밸리에 위치해 있어 펑션베이의 전반적인 분위기가 더 혁신적이고 미래지향적인 것 같다고 생각했습니다. 두번째 차이점은 펑션베이는 회사 전체가 큰 쉼터 같다는 점이였습니다. 일을 하다가 피곤할 때는 안마의자에서 잠시 피로를 풀 수 있고, 잠시 머리를 식히고자 당구를 칠 수도 있으며, 회사의 중앙에 마련된 라운지에서 자유롭게 동료들과 휴식 을 취하며 이야기를 나눌 수도 있고요. 이러한 점들이 펑션베이 직원들의 스트레스를 해소시키고, 창의성을 향상시키는데 큰 도움이 될 것 같다는 생각이 들었습니다. 

▶ 본인에 대해 간략하게 소개 부탁드립니다.

My name is Kevin and I’m from Germany. Currently, I’m studying Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich. My next step is to write my Master’s Thesis. Besides that, I’m doing a second degree in Management and Technology at the same university.

▷ 저는 독일에서 온 Kevin(케빈)입니다. 저는 현재 Technical University of Munich에서 기계공학을 전공하 고 있습니다. 같은 대학에서 복수전공으로 Management/Technology를 공부하고 있으며 독일로 돌아가서 곧 석사 논문을 쓸 예정입니다.

▶ 어떤 계기로 펑션베이 현장실습을 오게 되었나요?

Besides the University I work for FunctionBay Germany (FBG) as a working student. After finishing my Master’s degree, I would like to start working in a full-time position for FunctionBay Germany. I realized, while working for FBG, that the connection between the Business Units and the headquarters is very important for their relationship. So, I thought an internship in the FunctionBay HQ would be the perfect opportunity to learn about the structure, processes and people in the HQ and build a better understanding of the Korean culture and background. This could strengthen the connection between the BU in Germany and the HQ.

▷ 아직 대학생 신분이기 때문에 FunctionBay Germany에서 학생신분으로 일하고 있지만 석사과정을 마친 후에는 FunctionBay Germany에서 정직원으로 일하고 싶습니다. FunctionBay Germany에서 일하는 동안, 저는 본사와 해외 지사(Business Units)와 커넥션이 그들의 관계에 있어 대단히 중요하다는 점을 느꼈습니다. 한국 FunctionBay본사에서의 인턴 경험은 본사의 구조, 업무 절차 및 직원들에 대해 더 많이 알아가고, 한국 문화와 그 배경에 대해 더 잘 이해할 수 있는 좋은 기회라고 생각했습니다. 저의 인턴 경험을 통해 독일 지사와 한국 본사 간의 연결관계를 더 튼튼히 하는데 조금이나마 도움이 될 수 있다고 생각합니다. 

▶ 현재 맡은 일은 무엇이며 그 일에 대해 어떠한 마음가짐으로 일하고 있는지요?

I’m working in the Solution Group together with Danny Shin. Most of the time I learn how to connect Business Units all over the world to create a worldwide strategy. One of the jobs the Solution Group is facing every day to keep contact and create content for engineers in the BUs is. To gain more experience and practice, one of my tasks is to work on new toolkits.

Besides regular meetings, I am allowed to organize my own time, which I really like. This is motivating and promotes working independently. Also, I can decide for myself what I want to focus on most of the time.

▷ 저는 현재 솔루션 그룹에서 신동협 부장과 함께 일하고 있습니다. 세계 여러 나라에 위치해 있는 펑션베이의 해외 지사들과 어떻게 하면 잘 소통을 하여 세계 시장을 공략할 전략을 구상할 수 있을지에 대해 배우고 있습니 다. 이와 관련된 솔루션 그룹의 업무 중 하나는 해외지사의 엔지니어들과 소통하고, 그들이 필요로 하는 컨텐 츠를 만드는 일입니다. 제 개인적인 업무로는 리커다인에 대해 좀 더 많은 경험과 실무를 쌓기 위해 새로이 개 발된 툴킷들을 되도록 많이 활용해보려고 노력하고 있습니다.

정기적인 미팅 및 업무도 있지만 제가 스스로 제 시간을 체계화하여 계획을 짜고, 업무를 진행하고 있습니다. 이러한 업무방식은 제가 더 열심히 일을 할 수 있도록 동기를 부여해주며, 독립적으로 일할 수 있는 환경을 제 공해줍니다. 제가 좀 더 집중하고 싶은 업무에 시간을 더 많이 할애할 수 있기 때문에 좋다고 생각합니다.

지금의 경험이 앞으로 펑션베이 본사와 독일 지사 사이의 관계에 있어 많은 도움이 되기를 기대하고, 펑션베이 에서의 시간을 이렇게 의미있게 보내준 두 친구의 앞날에 박수와 응원을 보냅니다.
