If you create a body or import one from a CAD file, RecurDyn automatically recognizes the geometry and calculates the center marker (CM) and other properties of the body based on the density of the specified material (for example, steel), the volume, and other information that you input.
Therefore, it is generally unnecessary to change the location or position of the CM or the mass of the body.
However, in some cases, the automatically computed geometry may differ from the actual geometry of the model.
For example, when unnecessary geometries are removed to improve contact performance or graphic speed, or when the CAD geometry itself differs from the actual product design, the automatically computed data, such as the mass or the location/position of the CM, may differ from the data to use in the analysis.
To manually replace the automatically computed values:
1. In the Properties dialog window, on the Body tab, set the Material Input Type to User Input.
2. Click Apply. (Or, click OK and reopen the window.)
3. Click the CM button to open the Properties of CM dialog window.
4. In the Properties of CM dialog window, change the properties of the center marker.
(It is impossible to select the center marker in the View or Database panes. To change the properties of the center marker, you must open the Properties of CM dialog window from the Properties of the body dialog window.)
