Sometimes, when you attempt to open a RecurDyn model file (*.rdyn) you may receive the following error message “Cannot open the model file. Please check license information.” and the file doesn't open.

00_Cannot open a file

This error message may be caused by the following issues:

1. Version compatibility: This issue occurs when you attempt to open an *.rdyn file created in a newer version of RecurDyn in an earlier version (for example, when you save a model in RecurDyn V8R2 and try to open it in RecurDyn V8R1). To fix this issues, try opening the file in the latest version of RecurDyn.

* You can open files created in older versions of RecurDyn in newer versions without any problem.

2. No license: This issue occurs when you save a model using the RecurDyn Toolkit and try to open it in RecurDyn without a Toolkit license. To remedy this issue, you must confirm that your license is valid. To check the validity of your license, contact your FunctionBay reseller.

3. Invalid Toolkit Configuration: This issue occurs when you have a Toolkit license but the Toolkit option is not selected in the Toolkit Configuration Tool. To fix this issue, run the Toolkit Configuration Tool and confirm that the toolkit is selected. In Windows, click Start > All Programs > FunctionBay, Inc. > (your current RecurDyn version) > Toolkit Configuration Tool, and then confirm that the desired toolkit is selected.

4. If you still cannot open *.rdyn files after performing the remedies described above, please contact your software reseller or FunctionBay.
