ANSYS Simplorer 2018 can be co-simulated with RecurDyn V8R5 or later (or MBD for ANSYS 19 or later) using FMI (Functional Mockup Interface).
To run co-simulation betwteen RecurDyn (or MBD for ANSYS) and ANSYS Simplorer, there are some information you should know.
One is working directory and the other is the sampling time.
1. Working directory
RecurDyn: The model file (*.rdyn) must be located in the working directory of Simplorer.
MBD for ANSYS: RunMBD4ANSYS.bat must be located in the working directory of Simplorer.
-
standalone Simplorer: the directory where *.aedt exists is the working directory.
-
ANSYS Workbench: If you launch Simplorer from ANSYS Workbench, then <WorkbenchProjDir>/<projName>_files/dpall/global/Ansoft is the typical working directory.
** When the Simplorer model is open, user needs to save the model again to set the working directory.
2. Sampling Time
For co-simulation, sampling time, the interval between the master and the slave is important.
-
We recommend leave TS_Simplorer as default (It is 0 in Simplorer 2018)
-
Set HMIN and HMAX equal to the interfaceStepSize (Sampling time) specified in RecurDyn or MBD for ANSYS.
-
Set Max Time Step smaller value than HMIN, HMAX (Sampling time). usually 1/10 or 1/100 of the sampling time. (Max. Step Size of RecurDyn or MBD for ANSYS also should be smaller than the sampling time)
Information
TS_Simplorer
The interval between communication points between master and slave. If this is not specified, then it is determined by Simplorer solver.
HMIN and HMAX
Set HMIN and equal to HMAX so that they behave same as setting a sampling time.
