In some cases, you can use the PTCV and CVCV functions to reduce the analysis time of a model that contains contacts.
This technique can be applied to several models, including the following sample model.
In this model, the edges of the bodies are in contact when the motion starts and throughout the motion. If the contact data is not important, that is, if the two bodies are assumed to always be in contact, then you can use the CVCV (Curve on Curve Constraint) function.
Normally, an Intel Q9550 2.83 GHz (Quad core) CPU takes 28 seconds to analyze the SolidContact model. Using the CVCV function reduces the analysis time to 0.38 seconds.
Tips
The body in the sample model includes several curved edges. To merge these edges into a single curve, you must enter Body Edit mode.
In Body Edit mode, on the Geometry tab, click Edge Curve. When the EdgeCurve Operation dialog window appears, merge the edges into one curve.
