When you use a higher resolution than the actual monitor size, the 'Change the size of text, apps, and other items' option in the Display settings menu automatically changes to a larger value (125%, 150%, or 175%) in Windows OS.
When you use a 4K resolution that exceeds WQHD (2560 x 1440), it is recommended to turn off the 'Change the size of text, apps, and other items' option (maintain the value to 100%) or change it to a resolution that is lower than WQHD(2560 x 1440).
How to set the 'Change the size of text, apps, and other items' option
Windows 7
- Control Panel ▶ Display ▶ Select 100% and apply the setting.
Windows 8.1
- Control Panel ▶ Display ▶ Select 100% and apply the setting.
Windows 10
- Control Panel ▶ Display ▶ Click "Use this display setting." ▶ Set "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" to 100% and apply the setting.
