00_Save data in text format

After simulating a model in MBD for ANSYS, you can review the results of the simulation in both animation and plot formats in RecurDyn Viewer. To use the plot data in Excel or another program, you must first convert it into text format and export it as a text file.

You can export data in two ways.

1. Select the data that you want to export from the existing curves:

  • In RecurDyn Viewer/Plot, in the System Button menu, select Export, and then click Export Curve Data.
  • In the Export Curve Data dialog window, select the data to export, and then click Add to add the selected data to the pane on the right side of the window.

  • The Include Title Header option determines whether to include the listed names in the export file. The following figures show how the different Export Options affect the export file.

02_Save in text format

  • After selecting the data and export options, click Export to save the data in a text file.

2. Selecting the data to export from the database

  • In the Plot Database pane, right-click the data that you want to export, and then click Export Data in the context menu. The Export Data dialog window appears.

03_Save in text format

  • To add more data, select the data items in the Database pane while the Export Data dialog box is open, and then drag the selected data into the Export List dialog window or right-click the selected data and click Export in the context menu.
  • The Include Title Header option determines whether to include the listed names in the export file. The following figures show how the different Export Options affect the export file.
  • After selecting the data and export options, click Export to save the data in a text file.

You can use the exported text data in Excel and many other programs.
