In RecurDyn, you normally open and edit an existing rdyn file, and then save the edited file.

However, in some cases, you may wish to restore a model to its original state when it was first opened.

To restore the original model, use the rbak file that is automatically created when you open an rdyn model.

The rbak file saves the state of the model as it is when you first open it.

Even if you make changes to the model and save it, the rbak file stills contains the original model same as when you first opened the corresponding rdyn file.

Therefore, you can open the rbak file to restore the model and undo any changes that you have made to the model.

(To open an *.rbak file, drag the file from the search window to the RecurDyn window or change the extension from rbak to rdyn and open it.)

If the rdyn file is so big that its rbak file consumes a large amount of memory, you can deactivate automatic backup creation.

In RecurDyn, on the Home tab, in the Model group, click Simulation. Then, in the Simulation window, on the General tab,

clear the Create Backup File (*.rbak) checkbox.
