Released in October 2017, RecurDyn V9R1 has enhanced modeling capabilities and contact analysis for MBD (Multi-Body Dynamics) analysis. Upgrading the Mesher core engine for easier and more accurate MFBD (Multi-Flexible Body Dynamics) analysis and adding new toolkits for multidisciplinary analysis solutions implemented in one environment will maximize user's design performance.
Let's take a closer look at the Mesher upgrade in this article.
In RecurDyn V9R1, the core engine and Auto Mesh in Mesher were largely upgraded. The Mesher upgrade is an important feature that affects the performance and accuracy of MFBD (Multi-Flexible Body Dynamics) analysis containing flexible bodies.
The Mesh core engine has been upgraded to the latest version and optimized for the 64-bit platform, resulting in faster and better quality mesh results than the ones in the previous versions. Complex CAD geometries can be processed and large models with more than 1 million nodes can be created. It is now possible to generate a large-scale RFI file by using RFlexGen.
V9R1 Mesher Upgrade 1 : Mesh Quality Improvements
One of the main improvements in RecurDyn V9R1 Mesher is Mesh quality improvement. Algorithms related to edge and node have been improved so that unnecessary elements are not created. ‘Patch Angle Tolerance & Max. The Chordal Error’ option allows the user to adjust the precision of the geometry. You can also adjust Min/Max values to support gradual meshing (Mesh Gradation), and use user-defined Min values for element size to create higher quality meshes than ever before.
V9R1 Mesher Upgrade 2 : Meshing Speed Improvement
You can first generate a surface mesh by applying 'Advancing Frontal Method' to the surface, and then create a solid mesh from what you have generated. It is now possible to quickly create a high quality mesh using fewer nodes and elements. Hexa mesh has been improved in meshing speed about 2.6 times faster. In the case of Tetra mesh, its meshing speed has been improved about 2.4 times faster. As a result, the Mesh core engine upgrade in RecurDyn V9R1 has made it possible to create more precise flexible bodies quickly and efficiently. This allows you to obtain more accurate results for RecurDyn's powerful MFBD (Multi-Flexible Body Dynamics) analysis and to analyze the larger models.
In the next article, we'll take a look at the improvements to mesh-related features, including Auto Mesh.
