Speed Up Pre/Post Work: RecurDyn Layer Toggle Shortcuts

One of the features frequently used in RecurDyn is the Layer. If you assign layer numbers to each geometry (entity), you can selectively show or hide only the layers you want, allowing you to quickly hide unnecessary geometry during pre/post processing.

However, opening the Layer dialog box every time and manually clicking On/Off becomes increasingly cumbersome as repetitive operations grow.

Remembering the shortcuts below can greatly improve efficiency.

1.Ctrl + (numbers 1~9)

Ctrl+1 → Toggle display of Layer 1

Ctrl+2 → Toggle display of Layer 2

This reverses (toggles) the current visibility state of that numbered layer.

2. Ctrl + 0 (Toggle all layers)

There is no actual “Layer 0.”

Ctrl+0 is a global toggle that shows or hides all layers at once.

When you want to clear a screen and then turn back on only specific layers:

(a) Hide everything with Ctrl+0 → (b) Turn on the needed layers one by one using Ctrl + number.

3. Usage Tips

1) Assign frequently toggled core components (e.g., flexible bodies, actuation parts) to low numbers (1–3) to speed up preprocessing and debugging.

2) During debugging, temporarily move only the problematic region to a low number → Ctrl+0 → turn on just that layer for focused inspection.

3) Before a presentation or capture: Ctrl+0 → selectively re‑enable only the required layers so unnecessary geometry does not appear.
