The aim of the 2018 RecurDyn Simulation Contest hosted by FunctionBay, Inc.are to promote awareness of the usefulness of simulation using CAE software and to cultivate young and talented mechanical engineers with excellent ideas.

Teams of at least 2 up to 4 students from various universities across the country participated in this contest. FunctionBay received the final reports at the end of August 2018 from the teams who passed the first document screening in July 2018.

The final team selection was determined based on the comprehensive review of creativity of subject, accuracy of model, application of multidisciplinary integration, and comparison of results with experiments or theoretical formulas.

Reflecting recent trends, many teams dealt with industrial and service robots. There were also many interesting topics such as various driving models, tools, weeders, and drones.

The creativity stood out in general since the participants were students but it would have been better if the RecurDyn could have been used more proficiently by students.

FunctionBay will make every effort to provide the software that enables Korean engineers to actualize their imagination more accurately and easily.

In addition, the environment to learn how to use the RecurDyn easily is provided through various webinars, technical tips, and forum bulletin on the FunctionBay Technical Support site (https://support.functionbay.com/en).

If you have participated in this contest but haven’t won the contest, or have not participated in this contest yet, FunctionBay is waiting for you to participate in the 2019 RecurDyn Simulation Contest.

* Here are some of the examiners' comments on final reports that didn’t win. Pease refer to these comments if you consider to participate in the next simulation contest.

  • If you have had a closer look at how accurate the model is
  • If the comparison with experiment or theoretical formula was added
  • If you have had a more concrete picture of the utility of the simulation on the whole topic
  • If you have had done an in-depth analysis on the cause of the difference between the analysis result and the experimental result
  • If the sentences of final report in PowerPoint should have been written more concisely

* Here are a few simple tips that students better learn in advance.
