Merge Body
Merge Body is a useful function that allows you to combine several rigid bodies into one.
When you import a CAD file, the various shapes are often formed as separate bodies. You need to combine them with Merge Body to analyze them.
(You may also use Fixed Joint to connect the shapes, but if you are simply combining the shapes, it is faster to use Merge Body.)
To do this, open the Merge Body dialog box and check the bodies you want to combine in the Source Body list.
Then enter the name of a Target Body where the bodies will be combined, or click the B button to select the body on the screen. Then click OK.
If there is a large number of bodies, it may be difficult to select each one by hand. There are two ways to do this more easily with Merge Body.
1) Select the bodies on the screen and run the Merge Body dialog box.
The selected bodies will automatically be checked in the dialog box.
2) Select the desired bodies in the Database window and drag them to the Source Body list.
The bodies will automatically be checked in the Merge Body dialog box.
These two methods can make selecting source bodies much easier to use Merge Body.
You may sometimes feel confused when certain bodies don't appear in the Source Body list within the Merge Body dialog box.
This is because the bodies connected to Joint, Force, or Contact are not displayed in the Merge Body dialog box. Refer to this article for more details
